What is the farm share?

If you join our farm share, you get a super fresh box of farm produce and a relationship with the farm and growers. It’s a great way to truly know your farmer, be more in tune with the seasons, and get to eat peak-season, nutrient-dense produce all season long.

Why Join Our Farm share?

Food is our love language, so allow us to curate a weekly variety box for you, showcasing the incredible bounty our fields have to offer. As a farm share member you get first priority of the freshest, highest-quality produce all season, and you’re guaranteed to have a delicious bountiful box each week. We pour our love into the fields, and you can taste it. Our seriously delicious, nutrient-dense vegetables and fruits will undoubtedly improve your health and overall wellbeing.

What’s Included?

In each farm share box you’ll receive a variety of different vegetables, herbs, berries and melons as they are in season. Each box will include around 7-9 different produce items, and will vary from week to week. There will be staples that you can almost always expect in your box, including our famous lettuce mix or little gems, cucumbers, tomatoes, herbs, peppers, summer squash, onions and greens. In May & June you can expect lots of leafy greens, herbs, radishes, beets, cucumbers and strawberries. July will bring summer squash, green beans and the beginning of raspberries. August & September you can expect an abundance of tomatoes, sweet and frying peppers, and melons. In October & November you can look forward to winter squash, broccoli, cauliflower, and root veggies. Other goodies we cultivate like, turnips, carrots, cabbage, and spinach will make appearances in your boxes as well. We want to ensure you can always toss up a big, beautiful salad and still have plenty of veggies to creatively cook with each week. Please note that early season and late season boxes (May & November) will be a little lighter, while August & September boxes will make up for it with extra bulk, reflecting the rhythm of the seasons.

Members have the option to pick up shares every week OR every-other-week, based on your produce consumption needs. With our new platform, you can also skip weeks anytime.

COST

Each share will contain between $35-50 of market-rate produce, but for our members, each box costs $34. By paying this price, you are supporting living wages for the owner and employees of this woman-run, ecologically-minded farm business. This year we are using a new platform which allows you to pay for each week as you go! You can also skip weeks anytime, and easily add on extra items to your box, as they are available. You also have the option to pay for the full season upfront. We greatly appreciate receiving full payment upfront, if you are able, as it allows us to get through Spring start-up costs and properly prepare for the season. Members who pay for the full season up-front before May 15th get 2 weeks FREE (aka only $30/per share)!

Accessibility

We believe food is medicine and everyone deserves access to high-quality food. We understand that many of our community members are not able to afford our membership. As such, we want to do our part to expand access to our farm share. For those who feel able to support others in becoming members of our farm share, please consider making a donation to our “Food Access Fund”. Together, we can help families in need access healthy food from our farm. We thank you for your generosity, and for helping us achieve our goal of more equitable food access in our county!

If you are interested in our farm share program, but unable to afford it, please email us (beetgenfarm@gmail.com) to apply for our half-price share option. Please provide a short description of your situation and income, and your interest in our farm share program.

FAQ

What happens if I go on vacation and can’t pick-up my share?

With our new platform you are able to skip weeks easily anytime! Just make sure to hit skip before the harvest deadline. You’ll receive credit for future food.

What if there are some veggies I don’t like or am allergic to?

At each pick-up location there will be a “trade bin”, so if there’s an item you received in your share that you’re not fond of, you can swap it out with something in the trade bin! At this time we’re not able to offer customized boxes, but the trade bin is a great way to ensure that you’re taking home veggies you like.
